Our Lord, accept our service, our prayers, come to our aid and have mercy on us!
Sedro of Mor YaqoobO Son of the Good One who descended to the earth for the sake of Adam and put on a body for the salvation of all the raceThrough You, death, which reigned over generations, was ceased. Death was thought of in the likeness of sleep by the righteous ones. You fulfilled by Your person what was established in the beginning as having power over us while sin did not hold sway, nor iniquity by You.You willed, Lord, to loose the judgment of Adam in accordance with the Law and by the road determined by the treading of Your footsteps.Lo! For the righteous and sinners alike did it reign over - this cup that had been mixed for lineages and generationsAnd even the Mother who bore You death befell as the generations had tasted the cup that was mixed for us.She desponded and was grieved like earthly beings. Her heart suffered and she wept at once mournfully. The Holy One saw the road for her to be pure and even journeyed without hindrance upon the road. This hour greatly disquieted her like all men. In petition she cried out to her Only-Begotten Son and said,“Jesus the First-born, who became man, have pity upon Your handmaiden. The pains of greedy death have encircled me like the forefathers.“The cup mixed for the House of Adam, lo! I have tasted. Declare to Your apostles that they should come to me and I shall take comfort in them.“To You I look and to Your command, lo! I await. Send to me Your fiery watchers full of tranquility.”Immediately, that which the Blessed One prayed before her Only-Begotten Son, He willed to honor her through reverence which was fitting to her.All the heavenly powers descended to salute her –thousands and innumerable and incalculable ranks.Rows of fire and spirit came to honor her with the spirits of all the just ones and fathers. The servants of the Lord came to the Holy One - earthly and heavenly, and both sides.Expanses of light with luminary veils come to the Mother of Life whom they honor. The prophets, apostles, righteous and just ones, who prophesized of her, wanted to honor her. They rose to honor her and saluted the Blessed One. As much as she had pleased she was honored by God.The glory of the heavenly and earthly beings resounded while being raised up holily and spiritually. The companies of fire glorified before her with their hymns and they cried out, “Come in peace, Mother of Life.“Come in peace, enter into the Bridal Chamber that is prepared for you by the Only-Begotten Son that dawned from you holily.“Come in peace, Mother who bore, in her virginity, He whom seraphim and fiery watchers hide from.“Come in peace, daughter through whom the debt of Adam was requited, through whom it was rendered and death that reigned was conquered.“Come in peace, Chosen One elected by the Exalted Father to be the Mother of the Only-Begotten Son who became man.“Come in peace, Pure One who is clean of every blemish. Enter into the company of the place of life and delight.“Come in peace, splendid Temple of the High Priest. Dwell in the blessed abodes that Your Child has prepared.“Come in peace and repose with the holy ones, these who are celebrated in their conducts before Your Only-Begotten Son.“Come in peace, Noble One who was like a chariot and bore the Artificer by whom the earth was wrought.“Come in peace, Lady through whom He freed those in the House of Adam, and deliver them from the bondage of the Evil One and death.“Come in peace, Blessed One whose blessing is greatest amongst all blessings that have been given to all the holy ones.“Come in peace, Dove who bore the Great Eagle. He caused Adam to fly on high from death in His fortitude.“Come in peace, Beautiful Bride, lo! You are looked to. The Bridal Chamber of light has been prepared for Your holiness.“Come in peace, Harbor of the Spiritual Life, which dawned from the House of the Father to all mortals.“Come in peace, Mistress of the World through whom the curse of Eve was uprooted and through whom the redeemed peoples were blessed.“Come in peace, Ewe which bore the Lamb of the Father who sacrificed Himself for the sake of mortals that they may live.“Come in peace, Ladder of the Spirit which Jacob beheld through whom those who ascend above from death arrive.“Come in peace, Maiden who bore the Old Babe through whom all were restored youth from great old age.“Come in peace, Elegant One who bore the Lord of Watchers, lo! You were borne up to dwell in the place full of life.“Come in peace to the abodes that were prepared for you, who overcame death which had ruled over humanity.“Come in peace, Stability of the fallen and of the guilty, through whom your race rose from the fall of guilt.“Come in peace, Source of New Life, which dawned upon those who died willing in their freedom.“Come in peace, Praiseworthy One whom watchers and men glorify concerning that He was pleased to glorify you above all in that He would be borne by you.“Come in peace, Exalted Throne of God who is holily honored by the Lord of Cherubim.”Holy, holy, thrice holy is the Holy One whom you bore willingly and holily.Watchers jubilate on the day of your departure, she who is full of holiness. Men leap for joy and sing glory to your Only-Begotten Son.The prophets rejoice for in you all the parables were fulfilled. The apostles exuberate and from all the regions wished to salute you.The watchers received you with their hymns and salutations. Men enshrouded your body with their canticles. The apostles enshroud, the prophets sing, the ranks glorify, the assemblies honor and the Galileans stand in fear. The day of your departure both sides poured out amazement for you tasted death and soared to heaven with soul and body. Now, all us sinners petition you while we implore and supplicate His DivinityThat He may confer upon us compassion and mercy through your prayers and blot out the sins we have committed before Him in our insolence.May His tranquility dwell in the Holy Church that honors you and sings glory, and her beloveds, on the day of your departure.May He withhold plagues full of death from our lands. May He pass over divisions and controversies from among us.May He cease war, hunger and death from our souls, and may the lives that were pleasing to His Divinity live before Him.May He drive out from us evil times filled with wrath. May He heal the sick and loose in His mercy all those who are bound.May He adorn the priests, prelates and heads of the people. May He sow tranquility and harmony between them.May He accept from us this incense which we offer to Him and, through it, may the dead who have fallen asleep in His name be pardonedAnd, with all who have pleased His Divinity, may they go out to meet Him. May He shelter all of us under His wings in His care.May we hear from Him the joyous expression calling out and saying, “Come, blessed ones of my Father and enter into the Bridal Chamber.”Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One True God: to You be glory and have mercy on us at all moments. Amen and Amen.

Sedro of the Assumption
The Hoosoye found in the Fenqitho are relatively longer than those found in the Shhimtho, understandably so since they're for major feasts. The Sedro for the Assumption's Safro is no different. It is also a special type of Sedro set to a bo'oto melody (I have posted one other office like this thus far - the Sootoro of Sunday). Within this Hoosoyo, the mystery of the Incarnation is briefly alluded to, Mary's voluntary role and then a good portion is taken up by the angelic salutations to Mary upon her death and petitions to God.
