Christmas Hymn

In the spirit of the Season of Announcements (i.e. the Syriac equivalent of Advent), I have translated a qolo from the Fenqitho for the Birth of Our Lord (specifically the Ramsho of Christmas from the Hoosoyo) promoted by seeing the drafts for the Liturgical Commission's new issues, and they've decided to eliminate all the Hoosoye qole in favor of some innovative psalmic tone with substance-less words.

I also transliterated the Syriac if anyone is interested in singing the hymn. Let us look forward with fear and reverence to the dawning of our Lord as we commemorate His first coming, and may we serve Him well until His next.

English Translation
Holy are You, God who lowered Himself from the hidden heights of His Father to the earthly beings.

Holy are You, Almighty One who put on a body and was humbled to feebleness as it pleased Him.

Holy are You, Immortal One who was incarnated and dawned today in Bethlehem, the village of David.

He was wrapped in swaddling-cloth and put in a manger, and sucked milk as a babe, the Feeder of Nations.

He led them to come – the heavenly and earthly beings that they may honor the day of His birth in Bethlehem.

The Holy Church, lo! Resounds with the ranks of her sons and she sings glory for Your abasement for her sake.

Confer upon her, Lord, and upon her children the remission of debts from now until the age of ages. Amen.
