Lilyo Sooghito

Once again, my apologizes to those who follow this blog for a recent lull in posts, I've been very busy. I just completed the Sooghito of Sunday Lilyo (included below) and I hope to finish the office in its entirety pretty soon.

All I will say of the sooghito is that it shows an interesting dynamic of theosis resonating with the phrase "Christ became man so that we may become god" (St. Athanasius).

Sooghito
Thanks be to the Good One who freed our race from the subjection of evil and death, and reconciled us and the assemblies on high who were angered by our iniquity.

Blessed is the Compassionate One who went out without us imploring Him through our petitions and rejoiced in our life. He depicted the likenesses of our perdition and restitution in the strayed sheep.

He called our nature “heir and son” that had went astray, returned, died and was resurrected. He rejoiced the spiritual assemblies through our repentance and restitution.

Unspeakable is the great love that the Lover of Mankind showed to us for, by Him, our race was made mediator and reconciled the world with His greatness.

Greater is He than us and all creation that He made new through our humanity: for He made our bodies a holy temple filled wholly with worship.

Come, earthly and heavenly beings; marvel and be amazed at the greatness of standing for our race has attained the great height of divinity of which is incomprehensible.

Heaven and earth, and all those in them give thanks with us for You have magnified our race, of which You have renewed our image, blotted out our iniquities, called us by His name and subjected all to us.

He, who exalted us above all, is deserving of glory from His worshippers. Let all of us announce glory to Him, and to the Father that sent Him and to His Holy Spirit.

Let us say every night and moment holy is His name

and let us say at every moment your prayers are with us, Mother of our Lord.

To the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit may we raise glory at every moment:

for His unspeakable gift to the age of ages. Amen and amen.

Our Lord, accept our service, our prayers, come to our aid and have mercy on us!
