There's an interesting theme throughout this office about the hierarchs of the Church as exercising a teaching position which keeps out the taint of evil.

Messiah, our God, who is truly wise and ineffable, who fills the hearts of those who believe in You with the pure knowledge of divine doctrine as You made truly known that You are the beloved Son of the Father and equal in essence to the Holy Spirit. As one You are glorified. Therefore, we worship You through the memorial of Your holy ones and teachers of Your holy Church: fathers, priests and bishops – conquerors of the apostolic faith and destroyers of all heretical thoughts.

Let us pray this office in sincerity that our hierarchs lead the Church simply to maintain the truths that God has dispensed to us without trying to add to it - which any addition to divine truth is necessarily falsity.

Our Lord, accept our service, our prayers, come to our aid and have mercy on us!
